Starting or Growing a Sustainability Internship Program
Recorded On: 01/25/2018
Session Description
Join this call to learn about a sustainability internship model that can help maximize work product and intern satisfaction.
Anna Weinroth Ward, HCA’s director of sustainability, will outline the sustainability muti-intern program model she created and discuss case studies with details on how to get value for the program for interns and leaders.
A successful internship program should: 1. provide structure, access to experts, and mentorship for technical and soft skills. 2. allow the interns to gain confidence in their abilities to contribute to a sustainability program. 3. include an organization’s culture. Interns often begin their involvement with sustainability through varying educational pathways and experiences. A multiple intern program can use this as an advantage and leverage the varying backgrounds through discussions among interns.
Learning Objectives
- Understand a methodology to maximize the use of time – yours, your organization’s, and the interns’ – when leading a multi-intern sustainability program.
- Gain practical tips that have worked on what to do in advance, during, and after a multi-intern sustainability program closes for the summer.
- Understand how to have a program that results in collaborative and independent work from multiple interns, with different skill levels, and different knowledge about sustainability.
