Session Description 

Practice Greenhealth launched the Greening the OR Initiative in response to member requests and compelling research indicating the operating room, while a huge revenue generator, is also a significant contributor to the hospital’s waste, supply, and energy streams, thus a high-impact area for greening efforts. The Initiative is designed to coalesce the body of knowledge around sustainable practices in the OR, substantiate these practices with data and case studies, and develop guidance for implementation that can be shared across the sector.

A little under two years since its inception, the Greening the OR Initiative continues to grow and develop, encompassing all facets of the healthcare sector in this collaborative effort. Hospitals, suppliers, clinicians and manufacturers have all had a hand in pushing this Initiative forward, with new opportunities for involvement and collaboration continuously developing.

Bob Jarboe, Executive Vice President of Business Development, Practice Greenhealth

Bob Jarboe is currently the Executive Vice President for Business Development for Practice Greenhealth. Bob works primarily with Business Members of Practice Greenhealth in the member recruitment area as well in the establishment of special projects, initiatives and programs relevant to both the hospital and business members of the organizations. Bob has also spent the past four decades in leadership positions in non Profit organizations including local, regional and national associations as both Board Member and staff. Bob's work over the years has put him in close proximity to government and business representatives and he has served in public office.

Kaeleigh Sheehan, Coordinator of the Greening OR initiative, Practice Greenhealth

Kaeleigh is the Coordinator of the Greening the OR initiative. She oversees the education, training, communications, public relations, tools, resources and engagements relative to Greening the OR efforts. Kaeleigh works to assist, enhance and establish sustainable best practices within the OR suite, as well as oversees the Council for Environmentally Responsible Surgery.
