Anesthetic gas systems used on operating rooms can have a significant environmental impact, particularly with respect to energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. This presentation will provide an overview of anesthetic gas systems, their environmental impact, and the available mitigation strategies.

Arash Guity, PE, CEM, LEED® A, Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch (M+NLB)
Arash is the Chief Environmental Performance Engineer with Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch (M+NLB). Arash is primarily focused on delivering solutions for improving the environmental performance for healthcare facilities and a wide range of building owners. A LEED Accredited Professional and Certified Energy Manager with over 7 years of experience, Arash leads M+NLB’s environmental performance consulting division and specializes in energy and emissions management, strategic planning, and financial analysis of environmental improvement projects. Licensed in California, he holds an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management, and an MBA degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Arash is also the Project Manager for the Healthcare Ventilation Research Collaborative (HVRC), a multi-disciplinary group studying alternative ventilation strategies for healthcare facilities.
