CM14D3-The Power of Employee Engagement: Creating a Culture of Sustainability

Session Description

At the North Shore-LIJ Health System, getting the message about sustainability out to 45,000+ employees can be a challenge. Learn how, with consistent messaging, use of social media, partnering with community based organizations, and innovative programming, they were able to start the conversation about sustainability and create green champions across the system. Employees can be your biggest asset; or your biggest obstacle. Using case studies, this session will give you the tools you need to effectively engage your employees and harness their enthusiasm and energy to get your sustainability initiatives off the ground. Hear from a leading health system about how they implemented creative programs including the Carbon Footprint Challenge and the Green Workspace Certification program, to spread the message about sustainability to front line workers; what worked, what didn't and what you can do.
