The session will raise awareness of climate change and encourage debate regarding the need to appraise the carbon footprint of pharmaceutical and medical devices. It will signpost the sector to GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard: Sector Guidance for Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Products, and provide direction on how to use the guidance to meet the following objectives: reducing greenhouse gases emissions - with associated reputational benefits and ability to differentiate; identifying potential cost savings - directly affecting the bottom line; identifying points of risk in the value chain - and helping to minimise them early; informing customers - stakeholders require robust and well-founded information to ensure confidence in current and future performance; and preparing for any future questions from stakeholders, or for any strengthening of procurement requirements and regulations.
